More About Diving

Bunaken National Park

Located on the center of the coral triangle and created in 1991 Bunaken National Park covers a total surface area of 89,065 hectares, 97% of which is clear, warm tropical water. The remaining 3% of the park is terrestrial, including the five islands of Bunaken, Manado Tua, Mantehage, Nain and Siladen.
Besides diving and snorkeling in Bunaken National park we also organize muck diving in Manado Bay or soft coral dives in the slopes of Bangka Island.

When

Due to our geographic location, Bunaken National Park offers fantastic diving and snorkeling year-round. There can be occasional strong currents at some times of day, but there are always areas that are protected, comfortable and safe. Your dive or snorkeling guide will advise on the best spots according to the current conditions.

Boats

Our boats are spacious and have all the necessary amenities including marine toilets. All our boats provide covered seating and dry storage areas for cameras & personal belongings. Private Guide & Private Boat

For those guests who prefer a one-on-one dive experience, we offer both private guide and private boat service. A private guide will accompany you on the regularly scheduled daytime boat dives.

Schedule

We offer 2 dives/snorkel in the morning, 1 dive/snorkel in the afternoon and a dusk or night dive every day.

Snorkeling

Snorkelers are encouraged to join the boats for snorkeling.
All reefs around the islands of the Bunaken National Marine Park are suitable for snorkeling as they come up as shallow as 3m or 10ft in depth and the water is very clear. Like the divers, you will have a guide. The boat crew will pay close attention to any snorkelers in the water and will pick up snorkelers whenever signal is given. We recommend a wetsuit for sun and jelly fish sting protection, along with suitable mask, snorkel and fins, due to possible currents. Snorkeling by boat has a charge. Guests can also enjoy great snorkeling off the beach on Siladen, just next to the old jetty, a few minutes walk from the Resort entrance. Snorkeling in front of your villa is possible during high tide. Please inform the Dive centre if you wish to have a guide when snorkeling from shore.

Camera Room

At the dive center you can find our camera room, with dedicated rinse tanks, dry towels, personal space and power strips for charging your equipment and batteries.
